The 3rd Annual North Shore Mayors' Tournament

Home

The 3rd Annual North Shore Mayors’ Golf Tournament will take place at the Seymour Golf & Country Club on Friday May 21, 2010.  Registration and networking begins at 10:00 AM with a Shotgun start at 12:00 noon sharp.

Mark Sager is Chair of the 2010 North Shore Mayor’s Golf Tournament.  Mark is a lawyer and past Mayor of West Vancouver.  He has taken time from his busy schedule to help organize this very important community event because he believes that community volunteering benefits everyone.  Mark’s goal is to increase our corporate sponsor base.

Lunch is provided to all our golfers as well as on-course samplings of great food and drink.  There will also be interesting on-course challenges; longest drive, closest to the hole and the putting contest.

Post-Golf fun will include networking opportunities, a fabulous food stations, prizes and an amazing live auction.

You don’t have to be a golfer to join in the fun, so please join us as a guest on May 21, 2010 and support community projects on the North Shore.  Over the past two years, this event has raised over $232,000 for important community services. Please have a look at About Us for information about the past projects supported.

This year’s selected charity will receive 50% of the net proceeds up to $50,000 – is the program Middle Childhood Matters (MCM).  Coordinated by the North Shore Community Resources, this project is a pro-active program that engages children 9-12 years old.  The current program operates in eight schools and has been very successful. The funding will provide up to 2 years’ funding support for an additional 6 schools, and will enhance the lives of about 400 preteens who are too old for after-school care.  They are often left to their own devices, as both parents are usually working, so Middle Childhood Matters provides after-school activities that direct their attention and energy in positive ways.

The balance of the funds raised will go to the Mayors’ Community Trust Fund in the North Shore Community Foundation and the West Vancouver Community Foundation.  Income generated from these funds will support high-priority social service projects on the North Shore.
